Maybe it's been there all along...but it seems that there are more and more companies branching out and creating high end fixed blade hunting knives. The prices range from $200 to $400. And, while they look amazing, how do we know they are a worthy investment? Aside from the aesthetics, they all sort of seem the same? In today's episode, Jacob begins the deep dive into knife steel and some of the dynamics that come into play with regards to the type of steels that are available and how their composition of carbon, chromium, vanadium and other elements will dictate their toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.
