How to Kill a Buck on Opening Day with Jake Bush

Show Notes

Archery openers for many states are just around the corner, and many hunters dream of an opening day buck. But the truth is, most hunters will go home disappointed with their dreams of giant antlers smashed to pieces by the reality of opening day's challenges. It really is tough to get on deer, let alone a good buck, on opening day. But it's not impossible. In fact, there are some guys who seem to tag out on opening day, or close to it, with impressive consistency. What can we learn from guys like that?

In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer podcast, Josh talks with Ohio-based big buck killer, Jake Bush about finding, and killing big bucks on opening day. Jake has had a ton of success finding, and killing, bucks very early in the season, often on opening day. Jake's tactics are start with bedding, but as you'll learn from this episode, a lot more goes into it. Jake covers how he locates bucks, how he anticipates shifts in early season patterns, and even how his hunting strategy would be different if he was a weekend warrior like many of us. Enjoy!

You can find some of Jake's hunts on his YouTube channel, Legends of the Hunt.
