Tethered has had a wonderful year this past year, especially the beginning of the hunting season. They dropped a ton of new gear. One of those is my favorite, which is the Predator V platform, weighing just 3.4 pounds. It has the patented traction tread on it for that increased stability in the mud, rain, snow, ice, whatever it be. It has that powder coated finish, the black, so it already has a nice little finish if you want to put a little rattle can to it just to give it a little bit of camo. That's totally up to you, but it has that nice base already.

to it and also the high pressure die casting so it's a little bit stronger more consistent better overall quality as far as parts go and it has that new little slot so if you want to use a little webbing for a ring of steps around the tree you have that capability in it and can't not not talk about the angle front edge for increased comfort no matter how long you're in the tree and then also the brand new tree bracket that has that traction for better toe cam so it's friggin awesome and Molly

tab on the post. It effortlessly slides into that one-inch MOLLE on your saddle so whether you're wearing a tethered saddle or anybody else's you have that capability of just putting it on there. Really simple, really easy to use. So check out the tethered Predator V platform over on tethered.com. What's up everybody? Thanks again for tuning in to the Antler Up podcast brought to you by tethered, the world's best saddle hunting gear. And on today's episode...

Antler Up Podcast (02:33.836)

You have me to listen to and we are going to wrap up a really fun, incredible year with the solo episode. So I'm going to reflect and highlight some hunts and some conversations and share what's on the horizon for this next year. This one's going to be short and sweet, but I wanted to share some great memories and insights from this past year. So let's get right into things. So this past year, it was a really amazing year for me personally, and for AntlerUp as well.

We hit some big milestones. We were able to connect with some incredible guests who brought their knowledge and their passion to the show from mastering small hunting parcels to navigating big woods and focusing on the traditions of hunting. This year's episodes have been filled with actionable advice and heartfelt stories. And as far as the podcast goes, I wanted to try something different this year. There were some things that I do want to improve upon. are things that I know can be better, but also there's

things that I stepped outside my comfort zone and think we put out some good information. And I can thank you all enough for listening and tuning in and everything along those lines. And originally I was not going to air two episodes in a row this upcoming, like for today and then next week. But next week we are going to take a week off. That's gonna be the first one I think since like episode, man, I think that would have been.

a long, long time ago, like within the first year. So for last like four and a half years, there's been an episode recorded every single week. But for right now, wanna take a week off. We're gonna pick things back up on January 8th. So tune in then, we're gonna just get right back into things. But kinda to talk about that year in review, personally, the year started slow a little bit, but it picked up quickly for me.

Had some really as far as the hunting side things go had some really good hunts with some awesome friends in Pennsylvania in Ohio in New York And I was able to fill my first Ohio buck tag Which was kind of like the highlight of my hunting year As far as that goes personally, especially during the archery season but that followed quickly with the successful rifle season here in PA and this was the first time in a very long time that I was

Antler Up Podcast (04:55.362)

very very excited for rifle season. mean for me personally just knowing I was going to be with some of my best friends hunting our own camp that just floored me and doing the having the hunt and the success that I had on that hunt with who I did it with was just so memorable to me. It reminded me of you know as being a 12 year old boy and hunting with my dad again which I'm that's another goal which we'll get to down the line in this episode of what I'm looking forward to.

for next year is hunting more with my father. But to go along with that, those moments with my friends and just those specific hunts really reminded me why I love hunting so much. And it's about the traditions, it's about the experiences, it's about the camaraderie and the memories that we made along the way. mean, this past season is...

Obviously the success is great. It's fun. I could sit there and say, I filled a buck tag in Pennsylvania. I filled a buck tag in the state of Ohio, but it's those trips that I made. It's the, the laughs and just the being together. Those are the things that I remember most before filling those tags and those heat of those moments. And the other side of things that really stick out to me for this past year was stepping again outside my comfort zone and doing the 3d archery thing.

Last year I did the PA clash for cash or cash for clash or whatever it was called like that late spring summer and did the RBD shoot as well and That was a lot of fun like I kind of the reason why I wanted to do that one just to test and see what I'm capable of doing and and to the See what how much better that could allow me to get it as a hunter

And those really did sharpen my skills and introduced me to an awesome other side of the, I guess you could say outdoor community, archery community, as far as that goes. mean, some amazing people that you meet as well on the 3D range or competing and all that fun stuff. So I'm really looking forward to this year and trying my hand, maybe at some paper, doing some local things as that goes. So.

Antler Up Podcast (07:11.34)

Yeah, that's kind of like the recap as far as like the antler up things go this past year. We had a camp and you know, we really are looking forward to some future things with that. but I do the next part of this, I do want to highlight some of like, I shouldn't say my favorite episodes this past year, but some that I, if you, you know, maybe go back and re-listen to or get a chance to, if you did not get a chance to do it, but you know, right off the rip one that I always look forward to every single year is having Steve shirk on.

And we usually have him on in that August, September timeframe to kick off our hunting season, talk about those different types of things. we dove in deep about deer cover, long-term studies and adapting to big woods hunting. Steve's insights were just truly invaluable and just one of the best guys out there. Another one too that I really love talking to is Jared Schaefer. I mean, as far as individuals go,

Try to find a better one. I mean Jared is is a top guy family guy. Just an exceptional hunter I know this year he struggled a little bit He'll tell you that but at the same time he still got it done and man so last January we had him on recapping his widely successful year Which man motivated me personally and just always strive to to get better and man Jared's one of those individuals that makes you do that and then another

personal goal of mine, guess, like starting this from a couple years ago, is to have that conversation with Andy May. And this year we did that over the summer. And it was, it was a, important episode, I think. We talked about getting better and keeping it simple. And he really emphasized improving those skills through that simplicity and just clear focus. So check that one out as well. And then a couple of other minds were the, my trip up to Elite Archery did that with Josh and

That was a really cool one where we focused on like the new bow, then just other, the other aspects of, of what elite has to offer. That was another fun episode. Did that one in person and then always enjoyed talking to Joe miles from Osseo gear. Joe just brings really cool perspectives and just, you know, just again, another one of my fan favorites of I'll listen to his podcast and those things along those. then obviously some of my favorites were recording those live ones with, Jim, with Josh and

Antler Up Podcast (09:36.622)

and Tim and Tom and all that fun stuff. So just being able to do those in-person ones are just some of my favorite, favorite ones. And then obviously the last series that we did, honestly those like 25 minute episodes with the hunting cam traditions, like those were so fun and I don't know, I liked those and I got some really good feedback on those. if there's kind of, it doesn't necessarily need to be a series like that.

But if there are topics and things like that that you really want to hear that doesn't need to be in an hour long format, know, let me know. I'm always up to that. And as we look ahead to 2025, I'm excited to prove I am. I'm looking forward to improving and build upon this past year. So here's some of the things I think as far as the podcast goes that you could really expect is just trying to get some

Continue on getting those great guests that bring that unique knowledge and perspectives. So if there are certain people or skills that you are looking to listen to and learn from, me that, please shoot me that message or an email or whatever. I will do my best to get those individuals on and have those conversations. The other aspect is I'm going to try to get more in-person episodes recorded.

I love doing in-person ones. you just, I don't know, you can feed off that, that person as they're sitting across from you. And then, you know, obviously continue on like that traditions and community aspect of things. I really did dig those, those episodes. So I want to do more of that. And then obviously on a personal level, I'm going to try to improve my archery skills, you know, whether it's from 3d shoots to honing in a practice session, just a little bit better. I want to do.

That those things a little bit more like I said, maybe doing some some indoor things and then also I plan on Involving my oldest daughter more into everything this year She's shown a lot of interest in shooting her bow with me and learning more about hunting And so we're going to try to aim on getting together a few times a month where whether it be shooting our bow or going out scouting You know, that's I want to incorporate her more. This is going to be her last year on

Antler Up Podcast (12:02.485)

junior license until she takes her license the following year to test and everything along those lines. So I really want to incorporate her as much as she would like. So we'll see how that goes. speaking of scouting, that's an area that I know I want to improve upon. My thing this past year is I hate to make excuses, but it was, it was time. know, two years ago I was able to have a lot more time on my hands and I was able to get a lot done.

This past year though, not so much obviously with the baby and with family life, that's the number one priority. And I believe some extra scouting trips will be able to happen this year. Just the life balance and home life balance is a lot better. So I'm looking forward to that. And if not, I was able to still be successful and just know you don't need to be X amount of miles. And for me, that's not.

always what it's always been for me is just getting out there and just seeing some of the places that I might want to go or check things off. So hopefully I have a little bit more time to do that. And the other aspect is really getting together with Josh, Jim and Tim, because we have a lot of ideas for our camp and we look forward to implementing those hopefully this upcoming year and excited to see what comes about with that.

And I plan on doing a little bit more video in this year, so I plan on showing that progress as that happens. So, man, it's kind of like where we're heading, and the number one thing out of this I hope you could take is your involvement. You as the listener, just because this show wouldn't happen without you. I I wouldn't continue to do this for five years.

If it weren't for the listeners and the feedback and the friendships and the relationships that it's brought, and the enjoyment I get out of talking to people about the outdoors, about archery, about hunting, and just seeing the, you know, maybe the mindset of things, of proving yourself. That's, I love doing it for those reasons. So if there are topics, are individuals that you want to see on the show, please don't hesitate to send that out. So before I wrap it up,
